November 21, 2013 I'm amazing myself!

With no real plan except to sit down and right, the story continues to flow!  Progress is being made, lessons are being learned and we're still building to the big conflict.  What or who it will be is still just being hinted at, but we're drawing ever nearer!  Will we find out who or what it is in 50,000 words, or is that just the appetizer?

No way to know right now, but I'm still running slightly ahead of the game as far as getting to 50,000 by November 30th!

November 20, 2013 Gettin' there!

34,050 words, 20 days, 15,950 words and 10 days remaining.  Need I say more?

I have to say that this is going better than I'd expected.  The words keep flowing, the chapters keep accumulating and the story keeps progressing.

I put the gym on hold until this is done, though my body could definitely use the exercise.  But my body will still be there and willing when November reaches an end and I have 50,000 words (or likely more) tucked away in a file on my computer, just waiting for edits, revisions and rewrites!

November 18, 2013 Obstacles be damned!

Despite missing two days of writing as a result of a bad cold and the passing of my cat, Loki, I am back on track and slightly ahead of the game once again!  I fairly easily knocked out another 2800 words or so to exceed the 30,000 words I needed by today!

This one's for you, Loki, my little trooper!!!  May you have lots of kitty treats and humans to give you non-stop attention now that your pain is over!

November 15, 2013 Keepin' on keepin' on

Today, I passed the halfway point, not only in days but also in words.  At a little over 26,000 words, I'm still well on my way, though, with my class this weekend, it may pose a challenge.  I was hoping to be enough ahead so that I wouldn't have to stress over getting my writing done with two full days of class, but tonight ain't over yet, and I'm part way through tomorrow's words already!

November 12, 2013 Write, write, write, write, WRITE!!!

Today I reached 21, 650 words.  Some of them came easily and some had to be dragged out of my head with virtual forceps, but they are now on the page, saved and logged and I'm that much closer to the 50,000 mark.

At the moment, I'm averaging 1,804 words per day, slightly more than the 1,667 minimum required to complete this challenge on time.  Am I pleased with this number?  Of course not!  My goal is to hit the 25,000 word mark well before the 15th day and time is running out!  With 3,350 words to go, and my best day of writing yielded 3,762 words, (and it was a Sunday when I just did grocery shopping and wrote!), I'm going to have to kick my own butt to make it happen, but I just looked at the clock which is reading "11:11" so I don't doubt that, with a little luck and a lot of perseverance, I will hit the 25,000 mark tomorrow night!

Yes, homework is still suffering.   Yes, my laundry basket is beginning to overflow.  Yes, I am forgetting what the inside of the gym looks like.  But when I get to November 30 and can say that I did it, I will have plenty to be grateful for, more to be proud of, and will be well on the way to the first of many published works!

It will all be worth it!  Not only that, I'm establishing a habit for writing which will be a large part of my occupation come 5:00 PM on December 6th!

November 10, 2013 Oy, are my fingers tired!

This weekend, I added just shy of 6,000 words to my novel.  I was hoping to hit 10,000, but I'll take what I got!  (My brain was starting to fade and nothing worth typing was coming through!)  Still on track to meet the 50K by 11/30, but this week might prove challenging!

November 7, 2013 Keeping up the momentum

Came home from dancing tonight, medicated the cat and sat down to write!  I needed another 1667 words to stay on track, but the overachiever in me couldn't stop writing until I got closer to 2000.  Week 1 is just about over and I'm slightly ahead of the game.  But "slightly" isn't good enough for this write-o-maniac.  Cancelled my first visit to a local writing group so I could drag self and laptop to a local coffee shop for a writing marathon!

Is compulsive writing considered a mental illness?

November 6, 2013 Started earlier tonight, and hit my goal!

Tried something different tonight.  I ate a quick dinner and was at the computer by 8:00 instead of 9:00.  I wrote until a little after 10:00 and guess what?  I wrote another 2700+ words to get to 10,035 words!  The goal by today to be on track to finish was 10,000 words so I'm a tad ahead!  I'm so excited!  (don't tell my daughter that I've actually made up for starting a day late, as I don't need to hear her "I told you so's"!)

I'm so excited and having a good time watching my story unfold, especially as of 6 days ago, it didn't even exist,  I'd jotted down a couple of ideas while watching the Plot Whisperer videos, but I have written over 10,000 words in 4 days!  (and blogged too!)  Considering I'm working full time and not writing during working hours, I am totally amazed!!!

But then, this is simply more proof that I'm on the right track and that yes, folks, I AM a writer!!!

Woo hoo!

November 5, 2013 Still running a little behind, but writing every night!

Although I have yet to make up for missing the first day of the challenge, I'm managing to write more than the daily minimum which means that I will catch up, sooner or later!  I've gotten myself into a habit of writing between 9 and about 10:30 or 11 each night.  Dance nights will, of course, be the exception. As of tonight, I've passed 7300 words, and will, perhaps as the weekend approaches, close in on the 1667 words per day I'm shooting for!

November 4, 2013 Slow and steady...makes the 50,000 word novel

I added another 1597 words tonight, and though I'm about 1000 words short of the daily goal, I'm slowly catching up.  Writing was tough tonight as nothing I did made the words come more easily, but at least I'm sticking with the discipline of writing every day, no matter what!

November 2, 2013 Oy! What have I done?

Just committed to NaNoWriMo for November, with nary a story idea in sight!  This blog and my other may be woefully neglected for the next month.  If you don't hear from me, though, please send caffeine!
